Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of a dual preventive program combining relaxation and strengthening exercises to improve neck posture and reduce occupational strain among office workers. The researchers employed an experimental approach using a pretest-posttest design with multiple measurements. The study sample consisted of 20 office workers suffering from chronic muscular tension in the neck region, who were purposively selected.

The proposed training program was implemented over a period of eight weeks, with three sessions per week. The program included progressive muscle relaxation exercises and strengthening exercises targeting the deep and superficial neck muscles. Muscle strength, range of motion, and pain intensity were assessed through four measurements: pretest, first follow-up, second follow-up, and posttest.

The results revealed statistically significant differences among the four measurements in favor of the posttest across all variables. Muscle strength improved by percentages ranging from 230.07% to 346.91%, while the level of pain decreased by 98.59%. The researchers recommended integrating this preventive program into office work environments to improve occupational health and enhance productivity.
