In this research, we will study the effect of Severe Shot Peening (SSP) and Conventional Shot Peening (CSP) the physical and mechanical properties of AISI 1017, shot peening caused changes in its microstructure and decreased the ductility of the metal that are indicated in XRD, and experiments showed improvement in tensile strength. Hardness of alloy increased in treated specimens, and values indicate improvement in ultimate tensile strength and yield strength values with SSP and CSP, respectively, also, decrease in ductility with shot peening, in addition, changes in microstructure, and deformation intensities are increased, while the layer thickness increase in the SSP case, in comparison with the CSP case are indicated through XRF XRD, optical microscopy analyses.
The aim of this research is to test the effect of SPD through shot peening and electric arc welding on microstructure and the mechanical properties of AISI 1017 steel alloys.
