Quality of life among patients with diabetes: A field study at the Diabetes and Endocrinology Treatment Center in Zawiya, Libya

This study aimed to assess the quality of life (QoL) among patients with diabetes mellitus and to examine differences in QoL according to selected demographic and health-related variables, namely gender, age, and duration of the disease. To achieve the study objectives, the Quality of Life Scale developed by Hayat Touati was employed. This standardized instrument comprises several dimensions related to psychological, social, and health aspects of quality of life. The study sample consisted of 40 male and female patients attending the Diabetes and Endocrinology Treatment Center in Al Zawiya, Libya.
The findings revealed that the participants generally reported a high level of quality of life, although variations were observed across the different dimensions of the scale. The results also indicated that there were no statistically significant differences in quality of life attributable to gender, age, or duration of diabetes, suggesting that participants' perceptions of their quality of life did not vary according to these variables.
Based on these findings, the study recommends strengthening the quality of life of patients with diabetes through the development of psychological and social support programs, greater attention to health promotion and patient education, and interventions that facilitate adaptation to the demands of the disease and improve the quality of healthcare services provided.
